The Main Event free festival at Custard Factory - 29-05-2007

If you love music, film, dance and creative arts, then you’ll definately enjoy Birmingham’s ‘The Main Event’ (TME) on Saturday 2nd June 2007 between 11am-5pm. TME is FREE ADMISSION to the general public and visitors will enjoy this brand new festival extravaganza  - the freshest of its kind to take place in Birmingham, and will enable communities from different musical backgrounds to enjoy one day of top music, live entertainment, film, dance and creative arts in an idyllic setting of the ‘creative hub of the West Midlands’ - The Custard Factory.

 

Festival Director/Artist; Shimm1 set-up TME to give something back to his hometown (West Midlands) for supporting him as an artist over the past 4 years.

Shimm1 who will be performing at the TME said: TME is designed to aid the growth of the regions NEXT GENERATION of creative and artistic individuals by encouraging them to ‘get involved’ and ‘make it happen’ – by putting Birmingham’s artistic scene on the map.”

 

He adds: “I am excited about organising and being a part of TME festival and envisage a large collective of visitors from different backgrounds coming together to enjoy an eclectic day of artistic entertainment.”

 

This free, all-day, all-ages festival will be something for everyone to enjoy, with each segment offering different artistic themes and hosted by Kerry Franks (Heart FM), professional music artists and special guests. The festivals eventful sounds with comprise of a mixture of Indie/Rock, Dance, Hip-Hop and R&B to suit a variety of musical tastes and be performed by some of Birmingham’s finest artists, such as, Indie/Rock bands The Ripps, Midas and Stars in D.C and Hip-Hop sounds from Taharka and Birmingham’s pioneering Hip-Hop group Moorish Delta 7. Also performing is Shimm1 who will perform songs from his new album ‘Yea’ Whatever.'

 

Whilst soaking up the energetic atmosphere and savouring the breathtaking musical performances, visitors can indulge themselves with a FREE makeover courtesy from Shelley’s ‘UK Make-up School’ and film buffs can enjoy feature films, music videos and visual arts sponsored by Media Directions magazine, Creative Channel Network and Screen West Midlands. You can also enter competitions to win fantastic prizes, free giveaways, goodie bags and much, much more.

Food and drink (including alcohol) will be supplied by The Custard Factory’s legendary Medicine Bar (now known as Factory Club) and The Kitchen. Sponsors Smirnoff and Banks’s will provide complimentary beverages, so not only the youngsters can have fun!
