Photography competition winners announced - 22-08-2007

After spending hours and hours going through the entries we had to come to a final decision on the four best shots out of the hundreds we had been sent. This wasn't the easiest decision to make, and did literally take hours to do!

We were looking to find shots that captured various different things, and depepnding on the style of shot this varied each time. In line shots we were looking to see the emotion of the performance and the atmosphere it captured, in studio shots we looked for the image partrayed in the photo and how well this combined with the look of the band/artist, along with obviously the clarity of the pictures and the artistic eye it took to capture each image.

The four photos we chose to go with were by four photographers of different ages and styles, and varying success in the industry with their work. This came about by pure chance, as we put all the pictures together in one massive slideshow and viewed them all without knowing who had taken each shot, this just shows there is local talent out there that is yet to be recognised commercially,

We are proud to announce the Winners as-

The 4 pieces will be hung at St Paul's Gallery, which is the UK's number 1 gallery for Original Album artwork, and heavily involved in artwork to do with music, as that is their forte. The winners work will be exhibited alongside the work of Karl Ferris, who is legendary for his work during the Summer Of Love and onwards, as innovator of Psychedelic Photography, Karl is best known for his work with Jimi Hendrix and Donovan, amongst many others of that era.

The Karl Ferris Exhibition will run at St Paul's Gallery from August 31st through to October 6th, where you are welcome to go and see the amazing collection of Karl Ferris' work along with the Birminghamusic.com winners' work.
